Rector Search

The Vestry of Holy Trinity has called a Search Committee to begin the process of bringing to light God's plan for our parish. This page is dedicated to the process.

The Lord be with you, let us pray: "Almighty God, giver of every good gift: Look graciously on Holy Trinity and so guide the minds of those who shall choose a rector for this parish, that we may receive a faithful pastor who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen"

Members of the Search Committee are: Zo Curtis, Chair, Kim Hawkins, Jay Hill, Ken Hux, Suzanne Lamminen, Wilda Newbrough, Dorothy Robinson, and Stephanie Thorpe. The members were trained by the Diocese of Texas on Saturday, May 30, 2009, and have begun regular meetings to prepare for the task of searching for and recommending a candidate to be called.

F.A.Q.

1. When will Holy Trinity have a new rector?
We understand that in most parishes the process can take up to 24 months from the time a Rector departs and a new Rector is instated. Holy Trinity hopes to complete the process in 18 months which brings the target date on or about April 2009.

2. Why can't the members of the search committee discuss individual prospects?
It is essential that the search committee maintain complete confidentiality, even with spouses and friends, to protect the privacy of potential candidates and their professional standing in their present communities. Misinformation and conjecture must be eliminated from the process.

3. How can we learn about the progress of the committee?
Monthly updates will be given to the Vestry and included in the Bayou Beacon newsletter. These updates will provide comprehensive yet appropriate information.

4. May we recommend a candidate?
Yes! By all means, if you have the name of someone you wish to be considered, please submit it to either Zo Curtis.

5. Will we get to see or hear the finalists before they are called?
No. Once again it is crucial to maintain a professional standard of silence about the various candidates so as not to inadvertently destroy a career. We will make the name of the new Rector known when the call has been made, the call accepted, and the contract signed.
