Music has been a part of Christian worship since the earliest days of the church. Even before the Christian church existed, Jesus and his disciples sang hymns. Music has been adapted and written for use in the church since the first century CE through today. The music program at Holy Trinity selects its repertoire from this vast and rich heritage.

Choir circa 1950's

There has always been a choir at Holy Trinity; sometimes the choir was larger than at other times. The one constant has been the desire of the choir members to raise their voices in praise of our Lord.

Adult Choir

The adult choir sings a vast range of choral repertoire, from the plainsong of the early church through compositions from the present day. During the academic year, the adult choir sings at the 10:30am Holy Eucharist as well as for other feast days and special occasions. The choir also participates in Compline, a lovely and peaceful afternoon service of quiet prayer and chanting on Sunday a month.

Rehearsals are Thursday nights during the academic year from 7pm-8:30pm and Sunday mornings 9:30pm-10:20pm. Members have a wide-range of musical background from formal training to no prior musical experience. Anyone is welcome to join: there are no requirements that you possess great vocal abilities or have prior musical training. All you need is enthusiasm and a willingness to come to rehearsals.

Children's Choir

The children's choir is open to all boys and girls between grades 2 through 6. Children in these grades are encouraged to become members. Children learn musical and vocal skills as well as an understanding of liturgy. The children's choir sings a variety of repertoire from the wide spectrum of Christian music.

Children's choir rehearses during the academic year on Sundays from Noon-1pm. No previous musical background is necessary: enthusiasm, the ability to follow directions, and a commitment to attend rehearsals are all that is needed to join.
